I grew up the only girl in a family of women who sewed. My mother, grandmother, and aunts did it all—from needlepoint to garment making. While the boys played in the woods during family gatherings, these women poured their knowledge and creativity into me. I soaked up every moment.

Later, when we explored our genealogy, we discovered our family had been the village tailors in Ireland for generations. The sewing gene ran deep. Like the women before me, I loved knitting, crocheting, making clothes, doing needlepoint—anything with a needle and thread called to me.

My mother eventually became a master quilter, and her beautiful work inspired me to fill my own home with handmade quilts. But still, I craved something more—something a bit more “out of the box,” less utilitarian, more expressive.

Drawn to texture and beauty, I began to experiment— blending traditional quilting techniques with rich, luxurious silks and satins to create contemporary art. What started as curiosity has turned into a boundless well of creativity. I’m excited to keep exploring, keep stitching, and see where the journey leads.
